Bill enlisted in the RAAF in January 1943. After training as a wireless operator and air gunner in Australila Bill was posted to the United Kingdom. Halfway through his operational training the skipper was transferred to Pathfinders where he was allocated to a crew looking for a wireless operator. They were posted to 115 Squadron RAF which operated Lancasters. He describes the crew positions on a Lancaster.
